TULSA DAILY WORLD THURSDAY JANUARY 3 1963 SPEAKER HITS RI6HT W0RK M'Carty Contacts School Teachers OKLAHOMA CITY (UPD House Speaker McCarty mailed letters Wednesday to 2000 Oklahoma school teachers expressing opposition to a pro posed right to work law The letters were accompanied by pamphlets published by the Oklahoma Committee to Preserve ree Marketing and Bargaining and AL CIO labor organizations which are opposing the proposal McCarty said he was sending the material because great deal of concern ing the question was being cir culated many he said "I have heard detailed arguments for and against this legislation when it was being considered by the Oklahoma legislature Al though the question has been brought up time and time again it has never been approved by legislators is a misnamed he said provides no and no it will do I McCarty said lower wages for many and eliminate job security by destroying effective collective bargaining in He said this was a matter of concern to teachers A hearing on the right to work proposal will be delayed until after the funeral of Sen Robert Kerr Secretary of State William Christian postponed the hearing Wednesday Christian has stated he plans to complete hearings and rule on the validity be fore he leaves office Jan 14 Press Club's Election Set or Jan 13 The Tulsa Press Club will hold its annual election of WASHINGTON The Kansas Oklahoma Gulf railroad got final approval Wednesday to abandon 112 miles of track it has already quit using The Interstate Commerce Com mission announced final approval of the abandonment of tracks between Okay Okla and Baxter Springs Kan The last train ran over the route last week and part of the at the site of the new Markham erry reservoir dam near Locust have already Mills counties State Election Board Secretary Clce itzgerald said a three judge federal court had advised the board that it would not be in con tempt of court if it certified McComas' election The court had held earlier that elections under present apportion ment laws were prospectively null and void after Nov McComas 46 was elected Dec 11 to succeed Charles Wilson of Sayre Wilson resigned to
